Situated on a quiet beach road outside of Hoi An, Dechiu Kitchen’s beautiful and relaxing space brings a special feel and taste of local foods with a hint of northern flavors.
The interior design with antique and custom built furnishings invites you to stay and enjoy this wonderful dining experience.
Starting with fresh locally sourced ingredients, the locally inspired dishes include delicious seafood selections and tantalizing vegetarian choices, all creatively designed and served family style in beautiful Gom Chi ceramic dishes from Phu Lang.
This is complimented by the traditional coffee, tea, wine and beer, with a unique selection of freshly crafted juices, such as our Pinapple, Coconut and Mint special.
Sharing with you the healthy food and feeling of peace that she has created is the main idea of our owner/designer/chef.
The experience of dining at Dechiu stimulates all your senses, while making you want to relax, enjoy the food and company, and experience the special place and foods of Vietnam.
In a creative culinary setting, students cook together following demonstration and “creative commentary” from our Chef and designer. You and everyone will have their own kitchenware and local ingredients for a better understanding of Dechiu cooking techniques, and you will prepare your own meals with guidance from the Chef and staff.
You will learn about Vietnamese kitchenware for cooking and eating, and enjoy learning about healthy Vietnamese meals, ingredients and a creative approach to food and lifestyle. At Dechiu we feel the kitchen and dining atmosphere, including the art, the furniture, and the music is as important as the food and ingredients, and you will learn from our Chef how everything contributes to creating balance with the food and life. Exploring with the Chef the idea of “The Five Contemplations” will be a memorable part of the experience and leave you inspired when you return home. You will also practice arranging the food for serving and creating your own food art. At Dechiu Kitchen, food is emotional and touches all our senses as you explore aromas, tastes, textures and visual impact.

Eating and preparing a meal together is a meditative practice that touches many emotions and senses with the aromas, tastes, textures and visual impact. In preparing the food and dining together we realize that many elements, such as the rain, sunshine, earth, air and love, have all come together to form wonderful meals.
We follow the 5 Contemplations at Dechiu Kitchen (from Plum Village):
This food is a gift of the earth, the sky, numerous living beings, and much hard and loving work.
May we eat with mindfulness and gratitude so as to be worthy to receive this food.
May we recognise and transform unwholesome mental formations, especially our greed and learn to eat with moderation
May we keep our compassion alive by eating in such a way that reduces the suffering of living beings, stops contributing to climate change, and heals and preserves our precious planet.
We accept this food so that we may nurture our brotherhood and sisterhood, build our Sangha, and nourish our ideal of serving all living beings.
